This role involves diagnosing malfunctions and repairing Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The mechanic will advise and train lower-grade workers, inspect and approve completed maintenance, and solve repair problems using technical documentation. Responsibilities include using automated maintenance data systems, analyzing equipment requirements, maintaining records, and documenting actions. The mechanic will diagnose and repair GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintain external fuel and grounding systems, perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine serviceability. Servicing equipment with fluids and air, diagnosing mechanical and electronic malfunctions, and disassembling/assembling GSE components are also key functions. This includes repairing, cleaning, treating for corrosion, and reinstalling components. The role also involves stenciling and marking GSE, handling hazardous materials according to regulations, preparing GSE for storage and deployment, and operating/servicing towing vehicles. Maintaining vehicle and equipment records, providing dispatch service for GSE, and practicing good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety are essential.
