About The Position

Piedmont Airlines is seeking a motivated, reliable Ground Support Equipment Mechanic for its Ground Handling Department. The role performs routine maintenance and minor and major repairs on ground equipment and automobiles, and reports to the Regional Manager, Ground Support Equipment. Work takes place in an airport ramp environment with varied weather and elevated noise levels. The position includes all shifts, including weekends, nights, holidays, and irregular shifts.

Employment is contingent on a valid driver’s license and clear driving record, a 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and a drug screen as required. Proof of high school or GED completion is required, and applicants must be at least 18 years old. The listed starting rate is $21.86 per hour. The job application deadline is November 12, 2026; postings expire at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time on the day before the deadline.

Requirements

• Previous experience or training as an automotive mechanic.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
• Pass a 10-year Criminal History Records Check and drug screen, as required.
• Proof of high school or GED completion.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Ability to handle objects up to 70 pounds regularly and up to 100+ pounds occasionally with assistance from coworkers or tools.
• Ability to perform frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting, and climbing up and down stairs.

Nice To Haves

• Post-secondary degree or training program.
• Experience with automotive, truck, or heavy machinery, including gas, diesel, and electric equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and overhaul ground support equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain equipment in a safe condition.
