About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic (GSEM) for their work site at White Sands Missile Range near Orogrande, NM. The GSEM will diagnose malfunctions and repair Ground Support Equipment (GSE), advise and train lower-grade personnel, inspect and approve completed maintenance actions, and solve repair problems by studying technical documentation. The role involves using automated maintenance data systems, diagnosing and repairing GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintaining external fuel and grounding systems, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing equipment, and diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions. Responsibilities also include disassembling and assembling GSE components, removing, repairing, cleaning, and reinstalling GSE parts, stenciling and marking GSE, handling hazardous materials, preparing GSE for storage and deployment, operating and servicing GSE towing vehicles, maintaining vehicle and equipment records, providing dispatch services for GSE, and practicing good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience repairing and maintaining one or a combination of the following: Ground Vehicles (track or wheeled), Power-generation equipment, Rotary or fixed wing aircraft, Industrial mechanical equipment (pumps, conveyors, lifts, etc.).
  • Military experience with maintenance and/or mechanical background (91, 88, 3521 or other mechanical MOS would be best).
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and software.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • Forklift Operator license required.
  • Class A license required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at a government facility helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Advises and trains lower-grade personnel on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems.
  • Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions.
  • Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
  • Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
  • Analyzes, diagnosis, and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
  • Maintains external fuel and grounding systems.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
  • Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories.
  • Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications.
  • Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles.
  • Maintains vehicle records.
  • Maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records.
  • Provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work.
