About The Position

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role involves advising and training lower-grade workers, inspecting completed maintenance, and solving repair problems using technical documentation. The mechanic will utilize automated maintenance data systems to monitor trends, analyze equipment needs, and document actions. They will diagnose and repair GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintain fuel and grounding systems, and perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. This includes inspecting, testing, and operating GSE, servicing equipment with fluids, and diagnosing mechanical and electronic issues. The role also requires disassembling, repairing, and reassembling GSE components, managing hazardous materials according to regulations, preparing GSE for storage and deployment, and operating towing vehicles. Responsibilities include maintaining vehicle records, providing dispatch services for GSE to support aircraft operations, and ensuring good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety. Periodic travel may be required to support customer missions.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain clearance.
  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.
  • Must have a current valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have at least two (2) years’ experience working full-time on diesel generators and vehicles.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience on gasoline engines and vehicles.
  • Must be proficient in Office software applications to communicate through e-mail and various software applications, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • The ability to read and write and comprehend/interpret data.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a commercial driver's license (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose malfunctions and repair Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Advise and train lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems.
  • Inspect and approve completed maintenance actions.
  • Solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
  • Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and repair GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
  • Maintain external fuel and grounding systems.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
  • Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
  • Remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall GSE components and accessories.
  • Stencil and mark GSE in accordance with technical publications.
  • Store, handle, label, use and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.
  • Maintain vehicle records, and update paper and electronic equipment records.
  • Provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.
  • Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.
