About The Position

As a Software Engineering Manager for Ground Systems, you will lead the company’s Ground Systems Software Teams, reporting to the Vice President of Ground Systems & Operations and serving as a point of contact for technical, budget and resource allocation issues to meet team members’ needs, customer requirements, and company goals. You will also contribute to mission by leading architecture development, proposals, and execution across our program portfolio. This position's internal job is Software Engineering Manager. Our team is currently hiring for a Level K.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • 4 or more years' of directly relevant aerospace industry experience
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • A final U.S. Top Secret clearance is required post-start.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a security clearance.
  • Willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5 or more years' of experience working on satellite ground/spacecraft systems
  • Active Top Secret/SCI
  • A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews and screen interview candidates
  • Mentor the team and motivate them to succeed
  • Provide new hire reviews and semi-annual performance reviews
  • Recommend promotions and raises
  • Plan team development and set goals
  • Represent the team, advocate for it, and ensure it has proper resources

  • Break down and define scope of work
  • Staff appropriately for present and future programs
  • Allocate staff across programs based on priority
  • Track team status toward completing work and regularly evaluate performance
  • Work collaboratively with Ground Software, System Engineering, and Program Management to design, implement, and test ground segments
  • Coordinate design reuse across programs and tasks with different needs and constraints
  • Foster good technical communication and working relationships between the team and other subsystems
  • Improve process by simplifying workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and finding smarter ways to work
  • Develop and document best practices for producing, testing, and documenting ground architectures, and ensure engineers follow them
  • Seek new industry knowledge and techniques to enhance team capabilities
