Leidos’ Defense Systems Defense Sensors is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to lead emplacement of new and innovative radar systems. This is a large, multi-phase radar program with concurrent development, test, production, and sustainment activities. You will serve as the technical authority across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring design integrity, technical performance, and disciplined engineering execution. This role requires a systems-minded leader with the ability to direct technical work based on cost, schedule, risk, and requirements. Frequent travel to emplacement sites will be required. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with site integration and execution of government operational acceptance testing.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with formal design reviews (PDR/CDR), configuration management, and risk management.
  • Experience with RADAR systems design, including radar signal processing, antenna systems, or sensor integration
  • Strong understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model and DoW acquisition lifecycle
  • Experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies
  • Experience with requirements management tools
  • Experience creating verification and test plans and coordinating system integration and test activities to support verification of system level requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience briefing senior government customers
  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment, including leading and conducting Technical Design Reviews
  • Willing to travel frequently.
  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Possess a secret clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of progressive systems engineering experience specifically on DoW RADAR or Electronic Warfare (EW) programs
  • Experience commissioning, maintaining, or decommissioning a radar site.
  • Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP)
  • Active Secret, Top Secret or Top Secret / SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineer for site emplacement of a new digitized RADAR system.
  • Approach the site survey from the overall system perspective.
  • Consider integration activities, test, and the government operational acceptance.
  • Capture information about the site to feed into the requirement development process and develop the site integration and test portion of the installation plan.
  • Serve as the primary systems engineering point of contact, with frequent site travel.
  • Act as a site technical lead for engineering execution, system performance, and requirements compliance.
  • Collaborate with design, analysis, and fabrication teams to resolve challenges and optimize installation.
  • Provide guidance on system modifications, upgrades, and retrofits for site readiness and system compatibility.
  • Track project progress and coordinate resources to meet milestones for decommissioning legacy systems, installing temporary solutions to maintain mission readiness, and final system emplacement.
