About The Position

That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the Grocery department well stocked, organized, and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales. The associate will build displays to drive incremental sales, stock and rotate merchandise to ensure freshness, and keep product within easy customer reach. Storing excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines, smiling and greeting customers, answering customer questions, and helping resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner are also key aspects of this position. The role involves applying proper stocking techniques, ensuring merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs, and potentially assisting with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries. Handling damaged or discontinued items according to company policy, removing product that cannot be sold, and maintaining general sanitation in the department are also essential. The associate will follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposing of trash properly, maintaining productivity standards, work methods, standards, and shrink control, and complying with security regulations and policies are also required. The associate will put out stock at an acceptable rate, may assist with baling cardboard or other related duties, and ensures smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuous improvement of job performance and utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) is expected. The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps the Grocery department well stocked, organized and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales.

  • May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack (if properly trained –training provided).
  • Handles damaged or discontinued items according to company policy.
  • Removes product that cannot be sold.
  • Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
  • Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
