About The Position

Weis Markets is seeking a Grocery Sales Associate who is passionate about teamwork and the growth of its associates and communities. The associate will be responsible for maintaining a well-stocked, organized, and appealing Grocery department to meet customer demands and maximize sales. Key duties include building displays, stocking and rotating merchandise, ensuring product freshness and accessibility, and storing excess merchandise according to guidelines. The role also involves direct customer interaction, resolving concerns, and ensuring proper product placement and pricing. Sanitation, productivity standards, and security compliance are also part of the responsibilities. Associates may assist with receiving deliveries using power or hand jacks (with training) and handling damaged items. Requirements

  • Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No prior experience required.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps the Grocery department well stocked, organized and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales.
  • Build displays to drive incremental sales.
  • Stocks and rotates merchandise to ensure freshness.
  • Keeps product within easy customer reach.
  • Stores excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines.
  • Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions and helps resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
  • Applies proper stocking techniques to ensure products are properly located on shelves, ensures merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs.
  • May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack (if properly trained –training provided).
  • Handles damaged or discontinued items according to company policy.
  • Removes product that cannot be sold.
  • Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
  • Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
  • Disposes of trash properly.
  • Maintains productivity standards, work methods and standards and shrink control.
  • Complies with security regulations and policies.
  • Puts out stock at an acceptable rate as determined by company standards.
  • May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained. Training provided).
  • Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
  • Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
  • May also be called upon to assist in other departments.
