Grocery Sales Associate
About The Position

That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the Grocery department well stocked, organized and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales. The associate will build displays to drive incremental sales, stock and rotate merchandise to ensure freshness, and keep product within easy customer reach. Storing excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines is also a key function. The associate will greet customers, answer questions, and help resolve concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner. Proper stocking techniques, ensuring merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs, and handling damaged or discontinued items according to company policy are essential. The role may involve assisting with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack (if properly trained). Responsibilities also include general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposing of trash properly, maintaining productivity standards, work methods, shrink control, and complying with security regulations and policies are also part of the job. Stocking at an acceptable rate, assisting with baling cardboard, and ensuring smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors are expected. The associate is responsible for continuously improving job performance and utilizing all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. The associate may also be called upon to assist in other departments.
Requirements
- Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- No prior experience required.

- Applies proper stocking techniques to ensure products are properly located on shelves, ensures merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs.
- May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack (if properly trained –training provided).
- Handles damaged or discontinued items according to company policy.
- Removes product that cannot be sold.
- Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
- Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
- Disposes of trash properly.
- Maintains productivity standards, work methods and standards and shrink control.
- Complies with security regulations and policies.
- Puts out stock at an acceptable rate as determined by company standards.
- May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained. Training provided).
- Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors.
- Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
- Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.
