About The Position

Assist the Grocery department manager with daily operations, supervising department activities, reaching sales and profit goals, and maintaining quality assurance standards. The role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience and maintaining a safe, clean environment. The employee is expected to demonstrate the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.

Nice To Haves

High school education or equivalent preferred.
Management experience preferred.
Retail and/or Grocery experience.

Responsibilities

Promote a positive attitude, trust, respect, and teamwork among associates; communicate company, department, and job information.
Follow applicable laws and company guidelines.
Welcome customers, answer questions about products, maintain product knowledge, and make product suggestions.
Order, label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; monitor inventory and report discrepancies.
Coordinate sales promotions with store management and help monitor department expenses.
Use grocery department equipment according to company guidelines.
Train department associates on inventory, stocking, and Computer Assisted Ordering.
Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale system and applicable tender types and checkout procedures.
Follow company policies for cash shortages and overages, loss prevention, and restricted-sale items.
Follow food safety requirements, maintain case and cooler temperatures, and keep temperature logs.
Follow safety programs, identify and report unsafe conditions, inspect equipment, and notify management or the appropriate department about needed repairs.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks, issues, and suspected illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
