About The Position

The purpose of this position is to ensure the quality, freshness, and product assortment is maintained throughout the store, particularly in the grocery departments. This person will be receiving, stocking and rotating product, facing product, taking special orders, training and mentoring associates, and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of product rotation
  • Must obtain Harmons’ Forklift Certification
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people
  • Ability to appropriately and professionally handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED preferred
  • 5 years of grocery or other retail experience preferred
  • Any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized analytical skills and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Directly oversees the successful operation of the grocery, frozen, and dairy departments
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services provided by the grocery, frozen, and dairy
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the grocery, frozen, and dairy, and natural and specialty foods departments
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Ensures the store is cleaned daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Receives, stores, and stocks a wide variety of products for the grocery, frozen, and dairy
  • Orders product to meet the needs of the grocery departments based on past and projected sales
  • Pulls out of date product from the shelves
  • Builds end-cap and other special product displays
  • Verifies invoices from third party vendors
  • Assists Store Director with the successful operation of the store
  • Acts as manager in charge of the store in the Store Director’s absence
  • Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director and Sales Directors
  • Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
  • Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc.
  • Promptly addresses and resolves associates’ concerns and/or grievances
  • Writes the grocery schedule to ensure coverage and meet labor goals
  • Quarterly inventory of all store products
  • Active member of the Safety Committee which helps ensure the safety of both customers and associates
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the store as a whole
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
