The Grocery Manager exemplifies strong customer service and directs and controls the operation of the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives. This role provides feedback and recommendations on operational issues and personnel decisions to the Store Director and Division management. The primary duty involves managing the Grocery Department, including dairy and frozen food sections, ensuring compliance with product quality, rotation, in-stock conditions, code date standards, cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security. The manager implements Company and Division operating and merchandising policies, controls merchandise shrink, supervises inventory, orders products, and maintains inventory levels. Responsibilities also include supervising receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of all Grocery products, handling customer and vendor relations, and monitoring daily logs and sales performance. Under the supervision of the Store Director, the Grocery Manager directs, motivates, trains, and participates in the hiring of all Grocery Department associates, monitors performance, and recommends personnel actions. The manager is expected to understand the store and Grocery Department Profit and Loss statement, plan promotions, and communicate sales goals to associates. This position requires performing all job duties with honesty and integrity, complying with Company policies and procedures, and attending required training and sales meetings.
