About The Position

The Grocery Manager is responsible for leading the efficient, effective, safe, legal, and profitable operations of the grocery, frozen, and dairy departments. They are also responsible for guest relations and satisfaction, building a reputation for Ultimate Service. In the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director, the Grocery Manager assumes total store responsibility. This role coordinates human relations for the grocery, frozen, and dairy departments and ensures timely execution of all company and department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of store experience.
  • Required to work an average of 45 hours per week, involving multiple opening, closing, and day shifts depending on store needs.
  • Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and perform all other physical aspects of the job.
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
  • Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering the area or department.
  • Maintain proper stock levels in grocery, dairy, and frozen departments.
  • Oversee interviewing, training, scheduling, performance, and productivity of all grocery department team members (including frozen, dairy, grocery, and night crew).
  • Complete and communicate performance evaluations in a timely manner within the department.
  • Manage all dairy/frozen and grocery merchandising.
  • Ensure proper rotation procedures are enforced.
  • Order all seasonal merchandise and maintain records of movement.
  • Coordinate and maintain all displays and quantity purchases.
  • Manage grocery and dairy/frozen ad estimates and purchasing.
  • Coordinate with all grocery DSD partners on displays and buy-ins.
  • Maintain backroom organization, appearance, safety, and stock levels, including frozen and dairy vaults, and the outside area behind the store.
  • Manage individuals and delegate responsibilities appropriately to motivate and instill excellence in a positive manner.
  • Coordinate cleanliness and maintenance needs with the Service Manager, including grocery, frozen, and dairy equipment and fixtures, as well as displays, floors, ceilings, and décor.
  • Control, safeguard, and monitor all store assets, ensuring policies and procedures for asset control are implemented.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required by upper management.
