About The Position

Stocks, rotates and faces grocery products. Assists with the coordination and execution of department operations and work, including ordering and inventory control. Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment. This role operates 7 days/week and 365 days/year, with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires completing and maintaining any required food and work safety trainings/certifications. The ideal candidate will engage customers in a friendly manner, work a schedule that meets business needs, demonstrate a solutions-oriented approach, represent company values, and adhere to all work and food safety policies.

Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings/certifications.

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency required with skills to learn new programs and technology.
  • Skills to delegate, plan, and prioritize work.
  • Basic math or computation skills required.
  • Skills to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Orders product according to business needs and maintains appropriate inventory levels.
  • Guides the work of department clerks, including prioritizing and assigning work, training staff, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Partners with the department management team to maintain excellent department conditions (appearance, cleanliness, signage, service levels).
  • Assists customers with product selection, shares product knowledge, and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events, and implements plans accordingly.
  • Builds displays and arranges products for attractive presentations according to merchandising standards.
  • Maintains professional vendor relationships.
  • Participates in inventories, holiday, and sales event planning.
  • Completes customer special orders and provides follow-through.
  • Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality, count, and condition.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products, culinary terminology, product labeling, and dietary restrictions.
  • Coordinates with the Operations department for in-store tastings.
  • Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Maintains organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
  • Responds to emails and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any critical situations.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
