About The Position

Assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel and handling ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, directs and controls the operation of the entire store. This is a safety-sensitive position because its duties could affect the safety or health of the employee or others.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic mathematics, weights and measures, product variety, product location, and perishability.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods; reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 80 pounds; and possibly climb ladders.
Ability to stack properly and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day and with little or no supervision, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters as needed.
Compliance with Company attendance policies, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively and resolve complaints effectively; promote Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing the Grocery Department’s day-to-day operations.
Help implement Company and Division merchandising policies and instructions from the Store Director.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and other Company policies; initiate corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store.
May provide backup cashier coverage.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Perform all duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
Perform other necessary and assigned duties.
