Requirements

Knowledge of basic math.
Ability to fully complete the cashier training program.
Ability to memorize produce items and sale items.
Effective communication and reading skills.
Must be 18 years old.
Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.

Responsibilities

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale system, and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy.
Rotate merchandise according to code-dating policies, check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Promote trust and respect among team members.
Create a welcoming environment by answering customers' questions about products.
Maintain knowledge of products and answer questions or make suggestions.
Greet, engage, and assist customers; inform them of grocery specials.
Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
Follow company limits on cash shortages and overages and act honestly and effectively to control loss.
Follow guidelines for restricted-sale items, including alcohol, tobacco, and fireworks.
Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Follow food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify store management of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity; follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
