About The Position

In this job you will operate one or more types of chipping, grinding and cutting equipment in removing undesirable projections or surplus metal (fins, burrs, gates and risers) from sand castings. As a Grinder you will set up and operate band saw, abrasive saw, sand grinder, belt grinder and portable pneumatic grinding tools. You will use a variety of hand tools including hammers, cold chisels and files. This role may also require the operation and/or loading of the blast cleaning machine. You will report production quantities and items for each work order, maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. You will contribute to team effort by training others in performance of machine operator tasks as needed, and inspect all work for defects prior to passing it on to the next operation. You will also document actions by completing production and quality forms.

Requirements

Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools.
Experience using a grinder, saw or other similar equipment.
Must be willing to wear a grinding jacket, safety sleeves, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes
Must be able to read and interpret work instructions and effectively communicate with supervisor regarding manufacturing processes
Must have ability to operate a variety of machinery
Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
Holds a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development

Nice To Haves

Ideally has 6+ months of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a foundry
