Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Grinding complex radii, such as runner fillets
  • Upgrading surfaces to a specified surface finish
  • General deburring
  • Assisting fabricators and welders in making setups and in any general labor as needed
  • Masking of parts in preparation for blasting and paint
  • Painting (Brush or roller) / Maintenance painting
  • Gather materials
  • Assist Fabricators and Weld
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Perform flat grinding of buckets
  • Perform grinding of weld preps
  • Perform under direction limited upgrade grinding of buckets
  • Perform under direction limited upgrade grinding of wicket gates
  • Operate jib cranes and forklifts to move and position components for optimum grinding performance
  • Operate main crane, jib crane and forklifts to move and position components for optimum grinding performance
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
  • Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding assigned task, schedule, safety, etc. as conditions arise
  • Perform final upgrade grinding on runner to crown/ band weld radii
  • Perform final upgrade grinding wicket gate final blending
  • Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Observes safety and security procedures
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions
  • Uses equipment and materials properly
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment such as delays or unexpected events
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments
