About The Position

This role involves coordinating and performing grinding operations on tanks, ensuring equipment is in safe operating condition, and directing workflow to meet performance standards. The Grinder Coordinator will operate semi-complex equipment, contribute to production plans, and lead a team to meet daily schedule requirements. Responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring quality assurance through inspections, and adhering to Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) policies. The role requires hands-on work with various tools and materials to achieve specific finishes on metal parts.

Requirements

  • Sets-up and operates production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to read, interpret and apply blueprints, weld symbols and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure safe operating condition and completion of preventative maintenance.
  • Provide operational support and direct workflow for the area of responsibility to meet performance standards.
  • Operate semi-complex equipment and machines, prioritizing routine tasks and adjusting variables to resolve production problems.
  • Contribute data and information to production plans, run reports, check accuracy, and share information.
  • Direct work for a team performing routine work to meet daily schedule requirements.
  • Carry out standard activities under detailed guidance and troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems.
  • Assign work to others to speed up workflow and ensure high-priority tasks are completed.
  • Follow Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) policies, procedures, and instructions to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Train the team in safe working methods and escalate serious issues.
  • Carry out inspections of finished and unfinished goods and perform other quality assurance tasks.
  • Examine all surface areas and welds to detect defects.
  • Work in a confined space.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately to produce required parts.
  • Flap and blend weld burns on the exterior and interior of tanks using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
  • Buff outside heads and grind manhole covers and outlet pods using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
  • Grind welds, deburr rough metal, and produce various finishes on metal.
  • Stone grind, peen, belt, flap, and blend seams on the inside of the bottle using pneumatic shop tools.
