About The Position

Cascade Coffee is seeking Grinder and Roaster Operators and Flavorists for their weekend operations. This role involves working only 3 days a week (Friday-Sunday) for at least 36 hours, with pay for 40 hours. Cascade Coffee has been a premier specialty coffee contract manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest for over 45 years, specializing in roasting, grinding, flavoring, and packaging coffee for global brands. They operate from a large facility with extensive storage and roasting capacity, utilizing multiple roasting lines, flavor mixing systems, and automated packaging lines. The position is responsible for the grinding or roasting of products, staging of ground product for packaging, and coordinating with team members to ensure a smooth production flow while maximizing efficiency. The role requires upholding safe, high-quality, consistent products and superior services, and complying with safety programs.

Requirements

• Understands how to read package quality specifications (die-lines, temperatures, measurements, bag height etc.)
• Basic experience with hand tools.
• Working knowledge of computer basics and experience with data entry.
• Observes physical changeover of product on the machine.
• Has ability to trouble shoot minor problems on packaging machines.
• Has a novice understanding of centerline machine settings adjustments (time, pressure, temperature).
• Basic ability to read, write, calculate simple math, and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
• High degree of organizational skills required to maintain uninterrupted machine operation.
• Good analytical skills needed to plan and implement various machine operation functions.
• Ability to address complex problems and propose viable solutions.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Regular attendance and promptness is a must for this job.
• This job requires a high degree of teamwork.
• Assists new training of employees as directed.

Nice To Haves

• Food & Beverage Manufacturing experience
• Manufacturing experience desired.
• Operational knowledge of green coffee concepts, grinders, roasters, coolers, color analysis machine, product routing equipment and metric tooling is desired.

Responsibilities

• Operates roasting or grinding machines, product elevators, coolers and / or other devices for production.
• Makes machine adjustments and may service equipment in roasting area as well as ensure maintenance team is informed of all needs.
• Maintains an accurate inventory through use of a computerized inventory system.
• Incorporates rework at established quality specifications as required.
• Responsible for general housekeeping around the roasting or grinding areas.
• Upholds and provides safe, high-quality, consistent products, and superior services that anticipate, meet, or exceed the requirements of our customers.
• Complies with General Safety Communication Program.
• Performs any other duties/tasks that may be assigned to him/her on an as needed basis.
