About The Position

The Greeter welcomes guests with a positive, courteous presence and escorts them to the appropriate location or table. The role supports a smooth dining experience by coordinating with guests, servers, managers, kitchen staff, and reservation staff; assisting with restaurant preparation and cleanliness; and completing assigned closing duties. The Greeter should be familiar with the restaurant’s menus, seating arrangements, and table setups, and should help ensure that service and food preparation keep pace with guest flow.

Requirements

Sufficient education and literacy to identify and read product labels and communicate with guests about job-related needs.
Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English is preferred.
Strongly preferred customer service experience.
Detail-oriented and thorough, with the ability to perform consistent work to a high standard.
Ability to remain discreet and respect guest privacy.
Strong customer service skills and ability to remain friendly while multitasking.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Ability to operate various restaurant operating systems.
Ability to solve issues independently.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to memorize and describe menu items.
Decision-making skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and walk or move continuously.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist with seating.
Maintain positive guest relations and offer courteous departures.
Monitor wait times and notify guests during busy periods.
Help prepare the restaurant for service and maintain the cleanliness of the room.
Complete assigned closing duties and restock supplies as needed.
Know the restaurant menus and highlight items for guests.
Maintain knowledge of table and seat numbers and proper table setups.
Guide servers and bus persons in setting up tables.
Answer the restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently.
Check with phone reservationists or review answering-machine messages to confirm reservations.
Check with the manager to ensure private parties are properly staffed and organized.
Check with the kitchen to verify menu items are available.
Stay in contact with servers, the manager, and kitchen staff to coordinate timing and food preparation with guest flow.
Thank guests as they leave and ensure they had a pleasant dining experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
