About The Position

Winchester Hospital is a 5x Magnet designated, Top 10 Massachusetts recognized 223-bed regional hospital that is the leading provider of comprehensive health care services in the northwest suburban Boston area. As part of the Volunteer department team, this position greets patients and others timely and in a professional manner that is kind, respectful and empathetic. It provides assistance with the entry/exit doors and manages patient flow for Registration, instructing patients waiting to register, signing patients in on the outpatient registration log as needed, keeping track of the order of patients needing to register and for what service, and offering support to registration and screening staff. The role also manages/maintains the flow of patients into the Emergency Room, directs individuals to their desired location, and provides general information regarding the Hospital, our services and other information to improve the total patient care experience. Additionally, the Greeter accepts flower, gift and food deliveries for patients and staff, requests transport as needed, and accepts patient belongings including bagging, labeling and recording of belongings. This role communicates with patient care units and other departments/individuals, letting them know arrival status and requests transport as needed. It acts as a liaison between departments/patient care units and visitors, provides patient families/friends with appropriate contact information for the patient’s location, and assists in coordination of visitation. The Greeter explains and enforces hospital policies for patients, patient’s families & visitors, and assists in calling cabs, family or friends to secure a ride home from the hospital. The role organizes and updates any messages, notices or announcements at the desk, and oversees & trains screener staff, including orienting them to the hospital. As the workflow and the work area allows, may perform other clerical duties such as sorting, collating materials, stuffing envelopes and attaching labels for mailings. The Greeter follows protocols and policies in place at any given time for ALL entering the building, such as hand sanitizing, masking, and social distancing, etc., and represents the hospital professionally by being neat and pleasant at all times.

Benefits

  • The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
