Greenskeeper - Cassique and River Course
About The Position
On Kiawah Island, located just south of Charleston, South Carolina, day breaks across a pristine 10-mile beach, expansive marsh savannahs, ribboning rivers, and some of the most-acclaimed amenities available on the Eastern Seaboard. The Kiawah Island Club delivers a diverse collection of private amenities in distinctive venues. We are seeking Greenskeepers at both the River Course and Cassique Golf Courses to be ambassadors for our mission: TO BE THE FINEST PRIVATE CLUB IN THE WORLD. Exclusively serving members of the Kiawah Island Club, Tom Fazio's River Course and Tom Watson's Cassique are world-class 18-hole golf courses on the banks of the Kiawah River and overlooking miles of pristine marshland.
Requirements
- The ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs, and to sit, stand, kneel and walk for long periods, is required.
- Qualified applicants will be comfortable working outdoors for long periods in varied weather conditions.
- Applicants must be comfortable with the regular use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes.
Nice To Haves
- Some experience using lawnmowers, leaf blowers, edgers, and trimmers is preferred, but not required.
- Some previous experience as a landscaper or horticulturalist is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Experience operating powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, leaf blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining the grass, turf, grounds, and plants, at the courses using standard manual and power lawn care equipment.
- Mowing and weeding grass.
- Laying sod.
- Planting grass and other types of plants.
- Fertilizing.
