About The Position
The Greenhouse Technician will support the production and care of high-quality plant materials for gardens, landscapes, seasonal displays, and special projects. This position plays an important role in propagating, cultivating, and maintaining annuals, perennials, and other specialty crops in a greenhouse environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about plants, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining exceptional horticultural standards while working both independently and as part of a team. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of experience in greenhouse production, nursery operations, horticulture, landscaping, or related field.
- Knowledge of plant care practices including watering, fertilization, and transplanting.
- Ability to identify common annuals, perennials, shrubs, and greenhouse crops.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor and indoor work.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays as required for plant care needs.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or Bachelor degree in horticulture, greenhouse management, plant science, or related discipline.
- Experience with greenhouse environmental control systems and irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of pest and disease identification and treatment.
- Current pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one.
- Experience operating equipment such as skid steers, forklifts, carts, or utility vehicles.
- Commitment to safety, stewardship, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Propagate plants through seeding, and transplanting.
- Monitor and perform daily watering, fertilization, and environmental controls.
- Maintain healthy plant growth through integrated pest and disease management practices.
- Scout for insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other plant health concerns.
- Assist with greenhouse climate management, including temperature. humidity, ventilation, and irrigation systems.
- Prepare plant materials for installation in landscape beds, containers, and seasonal displays.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe greenhouse facilities and grounds.
- Track plant inventory, production schedules, and greenhouse records.
- Operate greenhouse and horticultural equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with seasonal landscape operations as needed including planting, bed maintenance, snow removal, and special events.
- Contribute to maintaining a world-class horticultural environment through attention to detail and quality workmanship.
