About The Position

The GSRP Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate, research-based curriculum that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of preschool children enrolled in the Great Start Readiness Program. This individual ensures compliance with all GSRP guidelines and works in partnership with the associate teacher, families, and staff to promote school readiness and lifelong learning.

Requirements

  • A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement; OR A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Ability to meet GSRP Lead Teacher requirements per MiLEAP and applicable licensing requirements.

  • Knowledge of the GSRP-approved curriculum and GSRP-approved assessment tool.
  • Experience in implementing GSRP programming.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement daily lesson plans using an approved GSRP curriculum (e.g., Connect4Learning).
  • Conduct child observations and assessments using GSRP-approved tools (e.g., COR Advantage, TS GOLD).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date child records, including attendance, assessment data, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Teacher and support staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
  • Develop strong relationships with families, including conducting home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure classroom compliance with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) GSRP requirements and licensing regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and training as required by the program and MDE.
  • Engage in team meetings, reflective supervision, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Use data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Monitor and report any concerns regarding child development, behavior, or safety.
