About The Position

Detroit Merit Charter Academy, located in Detroit, MI, opened in 2003 and serves over 700 K-8 students annually. The Registrar position is critical for the efficient and effective operation of administrative duties, including Enrollment Management, People Services Compliance, and General Compliance. The individual is expected to participate in continuous improvement in personal development and processes, including attending training. The Registrar will also support a professional, customer service-oriented office environment, answering phones, directing inquiries, and providing enrollment information to interested parents.

Requirements

  • Possess an Associate degree and/or 2-4 years experience in Office Lead or School Administrative position.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient on PC and basic MS Office programs.
  • Able to multi-task, highly organized, detailed-oriented.
  • Create and maintain a customer-focused atmosphere within the administrative functions.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents.
  • Communicate and work effectively with Students, Parents, Principal and Teachers.
  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • The Enrollment Registrar's duties are divided into three Areas of Responsibility (AOR): Enrollment Management, People Services Compliance, and General Compliance.
  • Participate in and drive continuous improvement in both personal development and processes, including attendance at training provided at the Service Center, regionally and online.
  • Support an office environment that is professional, customer service oriented and supportive to visitors, parents, and students.
  • Answer phones, direct questions and inquiries and provide any and all enrollment information to parents interested in the school.
  • Maintain, in accordance with state law, student permanent record files, withdrawals, student records requests and re-enrollment information.
  • Ensure that the New Student Enrollment process is run in a timely, complete, and accurate manner including: Application entry, Follow-up/correspondence/communication.
  • Lottery preparation and execution.
  • Documentation.
  • Cumulative file updates/maintenance/security.
  • Maintain required records in Student Information System to ensure compliance with state, federal, authorizer, and National Heritage Academies’ standards including: Attendance records for all students, Current Parent/Household information, Current Emergency Contact information, Collection and management of required forms, Management of all First Day / Count Day processes and requirements.
  • Forward pertinent personnel documents to People Services at National Heritage Academies Service Center, and maintain free-flowing communication with People Services.
