About The Position

Novastar Prep is seeking an experienced GRE Test Prep Tutor to provide individualized, one-on-one remote instruction to students preparing for the Graduate Record Examination. The tutor will support students in Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning, using tailored strategies to address individual strengths, weaknesses, and target scores. Instruction emphasizes GRE-specific techniques, efficient problem-solving, pacing, accuracy, and confidence, including for students who need a more strategic approach after working with other tutors. The role offers flexible scheduling, collaboration with advisors and coordinators, and pay of $35 per hour, paid bi-weekly by direct deposit. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of GRE structure, content, scoring, and test-taking strategies.
• At least one year of recent or current tutoring or teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt instruction to individual learning styles.
• Dependable internet connection and proficiency with online instructional tools.
• Ability to provide consistent, individualized support throughout a student's preparation.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Prior GRE preparation experience is strongly preferred.
• A strong personal GRE score and/or documented experience helping students achieve meaningful score improvements.
• Ability to teach efficient problem-solving techniques, particularly for GRE Quantitative Reasoning, rather than relying solely on repetitive practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized, one-on-one GRE tutoring in Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning.
• Develop instructional strategies based on each student's strengths, weaknesses, and target scores.
• Teach GRE-specific techniques, including quantitative comparison strategies, mathematical shortcuts, logical reasoning, and efficient problem-solving.
• Help students improve pacing, accuracy, and time management under timed testing conditions.
• Identify recurring performance barriers and adapt instruction to address them.
• Monitor student progress through practice assessments, targeted exercises, and ongoing feedback.
• Support students seeking a more strategic approach after previously working with tutors.
• Provide consistent, individualized support throughout a student's preparation.
