About The Position

Simpcw Resources Group (SRG) is seeking a dependable and experienced Gravel Truck Driver to join their Assets Division. This role will primarily support Civil construction projects in the North Thompson Valley on a Reduction Project located in the Valemount and Clearwater areas. Drivers will be responsible for safely transporting gravel, aggregate, materials, and equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and experienced operating commercial vehicles in varying road, weather, and site conditions. This is a project-term opportunity from June 2026 to December 2026, or until project completion. Schedules may vary based on operational requirements and may include up to 6 days per week, 12-hour shifts, or up to 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts, up to 40 regular hours per week. The designated muster point for this position is the Barriere Laydown Yard. Drivers may also be dispatched to support other active SRG projects as operational requirements dictate. Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years of gravel truck driving experience
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver's abstract
  • Experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELOGs)
  • Knowledge of proper load securement and load balancing techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to operate large commercial vehicles safely in varying terrain, road, and weather conditions
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance concerns
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with dispatch and supervisors
  • Ability to work extended hours, varying shifts as stated above, and travel away from home when required
  • Successful completion of pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing is required.
  • Willing and able to travel to project locations throughout Hinton, Jasper, Valemount, Clearwater, and Kamloops.

Nice To Haves

  • Class 1 Driver’s Licence preferred
  • Experience hauling equipment using gooseneck, lowbed, or similar trailers considered a strong asset
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nation community is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Operate gravel and dump trucks to transport gravel, sand, aggregate, and other materials
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials while ensuring loads are distributed safely and evenly
  • Secure loads in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Safely unload materials at designated delivery locations
  • Complete daily pre-trip, in-trip, and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Monitor truck performance and report mechanical issues promptly
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks including tires, fluids, lights, and safety equipment
  • Adhere to all applicable traffic laws, commercial transportation regulations, and company policies
  • Operate Electronic Logging Devices (ELOGs) and maintain accurate driver records
  • Maintain trip records, load documentation, inspection reports, and other required paperwork
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and project personnel
  • Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Wear and properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Support project goals through safe and productive work practices
  • Minimize environmental impacts through responsible operation and material handling practices
  • Perform equipment hauling duties when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
