About The Position

The Grassroots Community Organizer will be responsible for leading grassroots outreach, mobilization, and base-building with mothers who have direct experience with the family policing system, particularly in Wards 7 and 8. This role will recruit mothers into advocacy and develop their leadership while advancing campaigns that dismantle the systems harming Black families in DC. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and Founder, this position is ideal for an empathetic relationship builder who is passionate about racial justice and economic equity. If converted to a permanent full-time role, the anticipated salary range is $57,000–$60,000. If converted to a permanent part-time role, pay will be prorated based on hours worked using the equivalent full-time salary range.

Requirements

  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Experience using Little Green Light, Action Network, or similar CRM platforms a plus

  • Lead recruitment and mobilization of mothers into the organization’s organizing initiatives
  • Plan and execute organizing events, including community convenings, advocacy actions, and coalition gatherings

  • Track outreach and organizing metrics (contacts, recruits, leadership development) to inform campaign strategy
