About The Position

Catherine Cook School seeks a vibrant and innovative Graphic Designer and Creative Services Specialist. This position has responsibility over the school-wide graphic design of collateral and publications, social media, and website design and content management. The role involves connecting with and caring for students and colleagues, growing as a life-long learner through active participation in meetings and professional development, applying skills for community building, communicating the vision and progress of work, growing a culture of belonging and wellness through DEI and SEL efforts, serving as an Ambassador for Enrollment Management and Development efforts, employing Google and Outlook Applications, and partnering with the Director of Development and Gala Planning Committee to plan and execute the Annual Gala.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a related role
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and After Effects)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with CMS, HTML, and website creation software
  • SEO knowledge
  • Advanced photography and editing skills, and familiarity with DSLR cameras and iPhone capabilities.
  • An understanding of branding, marketing, and consumer behavior, and the ability to apply that knowledge in design
  • Ability to maneuver around the school and spend extended periods of time participating in school activities while photographing/filming students, faculty/staff, and families
  • Demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and strong organizational skills while managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Approach work with professionalism, flexibility, and a strong commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Bring curiosity, empathy, and appreciation for the many cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives represented within Chicago and the school community.

  • Skill in animation, motion graphics, and event planning and execution experience to enhance school initiatives and storytelling efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce compelling print and digital materials that reflect and advance the school’s brand, mission, and strategic priorities.
  • Support admissions, development, and school-wide initiatives through creative assets for email campaigns, direct mail, advertising, special events, and community engagement.
  • Create visually engaging and user-centered content across multiple platforms using strong skills in both print and web design.
  • Manage and contribute to social media content creation and digital storytelling that highlights the life of the school community.
  • Collaborate on photography, videography, and video production projects to capture and communicate the student and community experience.
  • Utilize web development knowledge to support website updates, digital communication tools, and online engagement strategies.
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues, vendors, and community partners to support communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Plan and execute the Annual Gala in partnership with the Director of Development and Gala Planning Committee.
