About The Position

Urban Outfitters is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to support the brand design team in the execution of day-to-day creative needs. This role focuses on assisting senior designers and art directors through production, preparation, and maintenance of brand assets across cross channel platforms. The Graphic Design Intern plays a key role in ensuring design files are accurate, organized, and execution-ready, while contributing to the consistency and quality of the brand’s digital presence. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented designer looking to build foundational skills within a fast-paced, collaborative creative environment. Summer Internship Program Application Process: Apply to one (1) internship posting that best aligns with your interests and skills. If there is a project component included in the application (see role qualifications below), it is required and must be submitted at the time of application to be considered for the position. Complete a Video Interview: Candidates selected to move forward will receive an email with a link to complete a video interview. Once the email is received, candidates will have two (2) days to complete this portion of the application. Interviews with our internal teams will be scheduled on a rolling basis. Requirements

  • Actively pursuing or recently completed a degree in graphic arts, visual studies, or a related creative discipline.
  • Strong visual thinking and a sharp design sensibility, with the ability to execute across multiple formats and channels.
  • Understanding of core design principles—typography, composition, color theory, and responsive design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, etc).
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • Basic animation or motion design skills (After Effects, etc.)
  • Meticulous attention to detail in file setup, naming conventions, and server archiving practices.
  • Awareness of current design and fashion trends, with the ability to translate them into brand-relevant visuals.
  • Positive and proactive communication skills with an appetite for collaborating within a high-energy team environment.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Create a concept board with 3 – 5 fashion trends you see emerging for the Urban Outfitters customer in Fall 2027.
  • Pull imagery from blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, runway, etc. to show your point of view – merchandisers, make it into a story!
  • We are looking for forward thinkers showing future inspirational trends that move beyond where we are currently or where we have been!

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and production of creative assets across digital and print, including web, app, email, social, signage, printed collateral, and other marketing materials.
  • Assist with day-to-day web and app updates, including banners, imagery modules, promotional assets, and other routine content updates while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Prepare production-ready digital and print files, learning best practices for file setup, sizing, resolution, color modes, bleeds, and other basic print-production requirements.
  • Receive and apply feedback from designers and art directors to strengthen design craft, technical skills, and understanding of brand standards.
  • Participate in brainstorms, moodboarding, and creative reviews, contributing ideas and visual references to seasonal and marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with the creation and adaptation of artwork, layouts, textures, and existing creative across various formats and placements.
  • Maintain clean, organized working files, follow established naming conventions, and properly archive final assets for team access and future use.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn while developing an understanding of the creative process from concept through final production.
