About The Position

National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Washington, DC, seeks two energetic, creative, and passionate Marketing & Communications Graphic Design Interns to assist the team in executing the 2027 Festival. The National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc. is dedicated to promoting the beauty of nature and international friendship through year-round programs, events, and educational initiatives that enhance our environment, showcase arts, culture, and build community spirit.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Recent graduates may also be considered.
  • Candidates must be studying graphic design or a similar degree and provide a portfolio showcasing creativity through brand design, layout, typography, and current trends.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Passion for community engagement, the arts, and/or international friendship.
  • Strong attention to detail and organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (knowledge of AP Style preferred).
  • Able to work independently and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of people in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in photography/videography plus Adobe Premiere Pro editing, and experience in Canva.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team and other departments to understand project objectives, gather requirements, and deliver high-quality designs within established deadlines.
  • Assist in concept creation for a variety of campaigns using the Festival’s unique branding.
  • Apply principles of design to create and implement visual assets, including advertisements, event signage and collateral, digital invitations, and banners, etc.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for special campaigns, events, and initiatives within project timelines.
  • Support and update essential production boards via Monday.com, a project management platform.
  • Organize and maintain the Festival’s photo gallery.
  • Assist with onsite team-related roles at in-person events as needed.
  • Other design requirements and responsibilities as necessary.
