About The Position

A leading medical institution is seeking a Grants Officer to support research administration by managing complex grant proposals, budget development, proposal submissions, compliance review, contract administration, and financial analysis while collaborating with researchers and institutional stakeholders to ensure successful funding outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Extensive experience in research administration, pre-award grant administration, proposal development, budget development, and proposal submission, including experience with federal sponsors such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Extensive knowledge of federal and non-federal research administration guidelines, federal regulations, cost principles, contract and grant administration, subaward management, and research compliance requirements, including human subjects, animal research, biosafety, and financial conflict of interest.
Strong financial analysis, forecasting, budget development, customized reporting, portfolio management, and complex transaction management skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, spreadsheet and database applications, and the ability to quickly learn research administration systems.

Nice To Haves

Experience using research administration systems such as eProposal, Proposal Express, Grants.gov, or similar electronic research administration platforms is preferred.
Experience working with university research administration processes, faculty, and sponsored research programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage complex pre-award research administration activities, including proposal development, budget preparation, grant writing support, proposal submission, contract and agreement coordination, and funding applications for federal, state, local, and private sponsors, with a strong emphasis on National Institutes of Health (NIH) submissions.
Review, analyze, negotiate, administer, and monitor grants, contracts, subawards, and research agreements to ensure compliance with institutional policies, sponsor requirements, federal regulations, and applicable research compliance standards while supporting proposal success and funding objectives.
Perform advanced financial analysis, budget forecasting, customized reporting, portfolio planning, post-award financial support, closeout activities, and management of high-volume, high-complexity research transactions while maintaining data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Serve as a technical resource by advising faculty and research teams, interpreting policies and regulations, reviewing the work of less experienced staff, supporting research administration systems, resolving complex issues, and providing guidance on grants management processes and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research administration operations, maintain current knowledge of sponsor regulations and compliance requirements, deliver high-quality customer service, manage multiple priorities, and identify effective solutions for complex research funding and administrative challenges.
