The primary purpose of this position is to support the research activities of assigned Principal Investigators (PIs). Under limited supervision, the Grants Manager B is responsible for managing sponsored program funds throughout the full award lifecycle, from pre-award through post-award administration. The position is supervised by the department's Director of Finance and Operations and works closely with the PSOM Office of Research Support Services, which provides functional guidance and oversight. This position provides oversight of the pre-award process by supervising Grants Coordinators and partnering with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget preparation, sponsor compliance requirements, and submission activities for a diverse portfolio of funding sources. The Grants Manager B is also responsible for managing post-award administration, including monitoring and reviewing expenditures, reconciling sponsored project accounts, preparing and reviewing monthly financial reports, and meeting regularly with Principal Investigators to discuss project finances and funding status. The Grants Manager B reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and University policies, ensures regulatory requirements are met, and verifies that Conflict of Interest disclosures and other required documentation are completed and submitted as appropriate. This role provides comprehensive financial management services, including budget reconciliation, payroll processing, salary grid maintenance, financial reporting, effort reporting support, and monitoring grant expenditures to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and University guidelines. The position is supervised by the department's Director of Finance and Operations and works closely with the PSOM Office of Research Support Services, which provides functional guidance and oversight. The Grants Manager B oversees a complex portfolio that includes large programmatic awards, institutional training grants, and other sponsored projects. The individual manages all aspects of post-award administration for assigned Principal Investigators and serves as a resource to other grants management staff by interpreting sponsor and University policies and procedures. The position plays a significant role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental grants management policies and processes. Additional responsibilities include creating and maintaining salary grids, assisting with effort reporting activities, supporting departmental leadership during the annual budget process, and supervising a Grants Coordinator. This position is contingent upon continued funding.
