About The Position

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative Grants Management Specialist to join its Business and Workforce Investment (BWI) team. This role will coordinate the full lifecycle of federal grants, including pre- and post-award activities such as application reviews, progress monitoring, amendment issuance, and grant closure. The specialist will also be responsible for providing training to applicants and grantees. This position requires applying knowledge of federal regulations and Commission policies and procedures for managing grants under the Appalachian Regional Development Act (ARDA) of 1965. The incumbent will work closely with program team members and report to the Division Director.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding and experience with federal grants management processes and technical assistance consistent with sound business and industry practices.
  • Excellent understanding of 2.CFR Part 200 including proven experience in the application of uniform guidance to the full grant lifecycle.
  • Experience navigating grants management systems, specifically using software to monitor grants, track deadlines, generate reports, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to effectively articulate the functionality of a grants management system to users such as applicants and grantees.
  • Adept knowledge of and ability to apply laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, processes, and methods governing the administration of Federal grants, cooperative agreements, and awards.
  • Ability to apply financial methods, procedures, and practices to assess the financial stability of recipients of Federal grants or cooperative agreements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective customer service communications.
  • Ability to use a variety of software such as grants management applications, Excel, and Word.
  • 1 year of solid grants management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Core competencies: accountability, adaptability, collaboration, communication, and critical analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment bringing an energetic and innovative approach to the work.
  • Successful completion (prior to hire) & maintenance of background security review.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel (up to 25%).
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
