About The Position

Wheeler offers a single annual placement for a master's level internship in its Grants Department. This internship provides an opportunity to learn about the full grant cycle, from searching for funding opportunities to developing reports and proposals. Wheeler serves a diverse clientele, with a significant portion from underserved communities. The internship is ideal for individuals interested in healthcare or social services who do not wish to provide direct client services. Interns will receive extensive training and mentoring from the Senior Director of Grants.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a university master’s program for social work, public health, public administration, or other relevant programs.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of data analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Microsoft Planner.

Responsibilities

• Search for funding opportunities to meet agency and program needs.
• Review and summarize funding opportunities (RFPs, NOFOs, etc.).
• Develop grant reports.
• Gather required attachments for grant proposals and reports.
• Lay out narrative drafts for new funding opportunities.
• Request and analyze program data for use in proposals and grant reports.
• Create data charts, figures, and graphs in Excel for use in proposals and reports.
• Write smaller community, private, or corporate grant proposals.
• Collaborate with program leaders and the senior leadership team during the full grant cycle.
