About The Position

Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is a community leader in delivering exceptional, responsive, and consumer-focused behavioral health services. Established in 1965, HVMHC serves five rural counties: Fillmore, Houston, Wabasha, Goodhue, and Winona. We offer annual clinical internship/practicum placements for students in Master of Social Work and Clinical Counseling Master’s programs. Our center has staff recognized by the MN Board of Social Work and the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as clinical supervisors. Clinical students will have the opportunity to work with child and/or adult clients, gaining experience in comprehensive evaluations, integrated treatment planning, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and electronic health record system/clinical documentation. Supervision will focus on building reflective capacity. Students can practice in an outpatient setting and/or with our School Linked Behavioral Health program, which operates in schools, homes, and the community.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master of Social Work program
  • Currently enrolled in a Clinical Counseling Master’s program

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations
  • Develop integrated treatment plans
  • Provide individual therapy
  • Provide family therapy
  • Facilitate group therapy
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings
  • Utilize electronic health record system/clinical documentation
  • Engage in supervision focused on building reflective capacity
  • Practice within an outpatient setting
  • Practice with the School Linked Behavioral Health program in schools, homes, and the community
