About The Position

Heartland Alliance Health’s (HAH) mission is to transform healthcare for the most vulnerable – particularly people experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addictions, or struggling with multiple chronic illnesses – improving health for all and the well-being of our community. The Grants Finance Manager is responsible for financial oversight, compliance, and reporting of all federal, state, and private grants. This role ensures expenditures are allowable, budgets are adhered to, and financial reporting is accurate, timely, and audit ready.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (extensive experience in grants finance may substitute for specific major)
  • 5+ years of nonprofit or healthcare grant accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 and HRSA requirements
  • Knowledge of UDS and SEFA reporting
  • Experience managing a grants finance team
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Blackbaud or similar)
  • Excellent written, communication, and project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain grant budgets, including initial proposals and budget revisions
  • Track expenditures against approved budgets and analyze variances
  • Forecast grant spending and identify risks related to over/under-spending
  • Prepare and submit all required financial reports (e.g., SF-425 / FFRs)
  • Manage grant drawdowns through PMS or other systems with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Maintain detailed, grant-level general ledger support and reconciliations
  • Ensure all expenditures comply with 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) and grant-specific requirements
  • Review transactions for allowability, allocability, and proper documentation
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls over grant spending
  • Serve as primary financial contact for external auditors and HRSA site visits
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit requests
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Analyze grant performance and financial sustainability
  • Provide leadership with insights on funding utilization and financial risk
  • Support long-term financial planning related to grant-funded programs
  • Work closely with Program Leadership and Compliance(Program Development Coordinator) to ensure alignment between financial activity and program operations
  • Support cross-functional teams in understanding financial requirements and constraints
