About The Position

The Grants Coordinator will work with all institution community members to secure external funding for projects to support the University’s mission. This role serves as the principal contact for the institution for grant activities, including pre-award and post-award procedures, ensuring a consistent approach to external funding. The coordinator will also facilitate project development, coordinate budget development and grants administration, and serve as a resource for Project Directors (PIs) during the implementation phase of funded projects. Additionally, the role involves assisting PIs with assessment and report writing, researching and identifying potential funding sources, and informing potential grantees of suitable funding opportunities. A key responsibility is developing and maintaining a calendar of cyclical funding programs for planning purposes and working with campus leaders to develop fundable projects. The Grants Coordinator may also serve as an author or co-author for grant proposals and will regularly update academic leadership on grant status. Training for potential grant awardees through seminars and workshops is also part of the role, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Documented experience in grant proposal writing and grant administration
  • Familiarity with grant proposals, especially federal/state funding agencies.
  • Ability to use independent judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Coordinating and collaborating many projects individually and with others involved.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal contact for the institution for grant activities that include pre-award and post-award procedures that ensures a consistent approach to external funding.
  • Coordinate budget development and grants administration for pending and awarded grants.
  • Facilitate the project development phase of grant proposals, working with the grantee to define project goals, measures of success and necessary funding level.
  • Serve as a resource for Project Directors (PIs) during the implementation phase of funded projects.
  • Assist Project Directors (PIs) with assessment and report writing.
  • Research and identify potential funding sources including studying the field of funding organizations to identify those who are a good match for the institution.
  • Inform potential grantees of funding sources that potentially match their goals.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of cyclical funding programs to know when ongoing programs typically request proposals to allow for careful planning and program development.
  • Work with campus leaders to develop projects that are fundable when feasible.
  • Serve as author or co-author for grant proposals when required.
  • Regularly update the Provost and academic leadership team on the status of grant proposals in progress, pending, and awarded.
  • Train potential grant awardees through a series of seminars and/or one-to-one workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost of Graduate, International, and Learning.
