About The Position

The University Research Centers (URCs) at Georgia State University conduct a variety of research involving translational research in neuroimaging, behavior neuroscience, diagnostic technology, neuroinflammation and cardiometabolic diseases, and other areas. The Centers involve faculty from a variety of colleges and departments on campus. Their research is funded primarily by federal agencies and not-for-profit organizations and continues to expand each year. The URC researchers brought in over $30million in sponsored funding during Fiscal Year 2024. We strive to create an environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence. This position will join the team of research administrators and supervisors supporting the URCs. Research & Economic Development is seeking (1) dedicated and experienced pre-awards Grants & Contracts Officer III.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems, exercise judgement & make decisions with little assistance from the supervisor.
  • Familiarity with tools and databases for managing grant funds regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal and sponsor guidelines, including 2CFR200.
  • Proficiency in creating and formatting financial templates and proposals.
  • Expertise in developing and/or managing grant budgets.
  • Skills identifying issues and recommending or implementing corrective actions in research administration.
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • CRA or CPRA, or CFRA preferred
  • Assist or Cayuse Proposals experience is desirable.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with faculty, researchers and staff assisting with sponsored research activities such as interpreting agency instructions and eligibility, advising, completing proposal documents in accordance with university and sponsor guidelines, completes Letters of Intent, Just-In-Time and other sponsor-related documents.
  • Manages the proposal submission process, completes research portal forms for proposal routing and submission.
  • Serves as a point of contact with Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and liaises with sponsors and other institutions as required.
  • Prepares proposal budgets and justifications and manages grant and contract expenditures ensuring compliance with federal, state and GSU policies as well as allowability, allocability and budgetary allowance. This includes salary allocation and appropriate matching funds, if required.
  • Responsible for approving grant & contract purchasing and travel authorizations and expenditures.
  • Prepares no-cost extension requests, budget revisions and other requests requiring sponsor approval.
  • Ensure fiscal compliance on all awards in the portfolio.
  • Assists faculty, researchers and staff with internal and external funding agency websites and electronic platforms, such as Assist, Cayuse or NIH Commons, in order to submit proposals, bio-sketches and other required information.
  • Assists with college-wide grant training for faculty, researchers and staff.
  • Serves as a resource to the faculty, researchers and staff within the assigned URC centers; track grant and contract performance metrics, such as proposal submitted or expenditure levels managed.
