About The Position

The position serves as administrator for complex grant mechanisms in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health (EMPH), and acts as a liaison with University and Medical Center administration, project sponsors, regulatory agencies, and affiliated institutions. The role interprets funding-agency policies and advises principal investigators and faculty on proposal preparation, submission, post-award reporting, and related requirements. The role oversees submissions for approximately one-third of department faculty, coordinating timelines and proposal components, ensuring compliance with sponsor and University requirements, and submitting proposals through IORA and other sponsor systems. It coordinates renewals of large, complex grants and works with external institutions to establish subcontracts, consulting agreements, material/data use agreements, and other research contracts. The administrator monitors sponsor-policy compliance, including NIH Public Access Policy requirements, and works with IRBs and compliance offices to resolve regulatory issues. The position supports annual and final progress reports by gathering required materials, calculating faculty and staff effort information from MyURHR, and addressing budgetary matters. It assists faculty with final financial and project reports, serves as a department-wide point of contact for these processes, and promotes compliance with sponsor requirements. For complex grants housed in EMPH, the administrator coordinates financial and scientific reporting, progress-report submissions, and competing renewals with affiliated sites, ORACS, and ORPA, serving as the University of Rochester point of contact. Other duties may be assigned.
