About The Position

The Office of Research & Innovation at Winston-Salem State University is seeking to fill two full-time Grants Administrator positions. This position serves as a liaison between faculty applying for grants, Sponsored Programs staff (pre-award and post-award), and granting agencies. The Grants Administrator will work with Sponsored Programs pre-award staff to research, prepare, and submit grant proposals, and with Sponsored Programs post-award staff to manage funded grants, assist in hiring and ordering, and administer reports that meet funder guidelines and criteria. The role also involves assisting in grant writing/editing, managing external relationships, engaging in compliance reporting, and supporting special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, and project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead grant proposal development and submission, including researching funding opportunities, preparing and organizing materials, submitting and monitoring applications.
  • Maintain and build relationships with faculty, staff, funders, and strategic partners.
  • Participate in drafting proposals, letters of intent, grant application narratives, and budgets, and collaborate to finalize them.
  • Upload grant applications via online portals.
  • Meet with faculty and staff to explore funding opportunities.
  • Maintain a master calendar of grants and prospects, and associated files and correspondence.
  • Maintain a library of grant support documents.
  • Execute and facilitate grant contracts/agreements.
  • Ensure acknowledgment of funders/investors.
  • Provide post-award grant management assistance, including purchasing, hiring (students, staff, technical/research personnel), and budget maintenance and spending reporting.
  • Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets.
  • Monitor and maintain funder reporting schedules and requirements.
  • Track progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals.
  • Request reimbursements and drawdowns.
  • Draft progress reports and program updates to funders.
  • Assemble supporting materials for reports, including budget reports, outcome measurements, and success stories.
  • Submit reports to funders/investors.
  • Perform research and data-gathering for grant proposals from external sources and WSSU institutional/program data.
  • Assist in the development of presentations for various stakeholders.
