About The Position

Prepares internal and external financial, budgetary and accounting reports of considerable complexity in accordance to General Accepted Accounting Principles. Develops, implements, and maintains financial policies and procedures for contracts and grants to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines, regulations and circulars. Completes post-award administration of contracts and grants; financial reporting and record maintenance. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. Reviews financial transactions and accounting of grant disbursements to ensure compliance with federal and state accounting and procurement standards. Oversees cash management of all grants and contracts including preparation of electronic draw-downs and hard copy requests of funds from grantor agencies. Prepares and submit grant funding reimbursement requests to outside funders providing proper documentation to ensure prompt payment. Supports sponsored programs departments in education and training of principal investigators and administrators; assesses needs and resolves issues of the principal investigator related to grants accounting; performs analysis and support for projects. Understands, develops, monitors, and calculates indirect cost recovery pools for department based on general indirect cost guidelines and individual grant/contract rules or regulations. Assists with time and effort reporting system, ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations. Analyzes financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems. Maintains general and special ledgers of the assigned divisional expenditures. Conducts internal audits to monitor budget expenditures and ensure standard operating procedures are in compliance. Conducts month‐end balancing of various accounts and prepare journal entries and account adjustments to correct deficiencies. Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration.
  • 2 years experience contract and grant administration and accounting experience.
  • Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review).

  • 2 years utility experience (preferred).
