About The Position

Bethany Children’s Home seeks a skilled and mission-driven Grant Writer to support and expand institutional funding for programs serving youth who have experienced trauma, instability, and are at risk of exploitation, including trafficking. The Grant Writer will play a critical role in securing and sustaining funding to support Bethany’s residential care, educational programming, and life skills development initiatives by managing a portfolio of grant opportunities from identification through submission and reporting, contributing to a strong funding pipeline. This position translates complex, trauma-informed work into compelling, data-informed proposals while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5+ years of successful grant writing experience, preferably in human services or child welfare
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Ability to communicate trauma-informed, youth-centered programming with clarity, sensitivity, and authenticity.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret program data, outcomes, and evaluation metrics for use in proposals, reports, and funding applications
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment while maintaining consistent communication, responsiveness, and accountability
  • Experience developing grant budgets and understanding financial narratives that align with funder requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
  • Proficiency with grant tracking tools
  • Strategic and proactive mindset with the ability to identify funding opportunities and anticipate grant-related needs
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and external stakeholders.

  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Be fluent in the language(s) spoken by a majority of the youth in care.

  • Possess a strong commitment to helping youth succeed by helping them reorient their lives, nurture their reunification efforts and enable them to make a successful transition to their next placement.
  • Possess ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively with consistency to multiracial and multicultural groups of young adults.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a clear 3-year driving history.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Submit to a health assessment demonstrating fitness for duty, certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment and comply with a two-year renewal.
  • Provide current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprinting clearances prior to commencing employment and comply with a two-year renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a grant pipeline that supports the organization’s annual institutional funding goals, tracking progress and identifying opportunities
  • Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities aligned with Bethany’s mission
  • Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests
  • Develop compelling narratives that highlight Bethany’s impact on at-risk youth, including prevention and intervention efforts
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Development, Programs, Leadership, and Finance teams for grant-related information gathering, coordination, alignment, and reporting
  • In partnership with the Director of Development, collaborate with the Finance team to develop accurate and comprehensive grant budgets
  • Manage all phases of the grant lifecycle, ensuring timely tracking of deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
  • Ensure all proposals and reports align with funder requirements, program guidelines, and organizational policies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grant records, opportunities, and pipelines within the donor management systems
  • Support funder stewardship by helping craft updates, impact reports, and communications
  • Contribute to the organization’s development strategy by identifying opportunities to grow and diversify institutional funding
  • Provide weekly productivity reporting on grant pipeline activity, including submissions, deadlines, funding projections, new funding opportunities, and key insights
  • Attend staff and team meetings as required.
  • Attends training seminars/conferences as needed to promote continued growth and development of job roles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
