About The Position

HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery. The Grants Department secures funding to support the organization’s programs by identifying opportunities and developing competitive proposals. The team collaborates with program, finance, and leadership staff to align proposals with strategic goals. It ensures compliance with funder requirements and maintains high standards in grant writing. The department also provides guidance on funding strategy and supports agency-wide sustainability efforts. The Grant Writer III is primarily responsible for researching, identifying, and responding to public and private grant opportunities, as well as preparing high-quality proposals and applications. Focus areas include healthcare, substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, housing and employment, and education resources. This role operates under broad direction, with a high level of independence in day-to-day work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of experience writing government grants.
  • OR Master’s degree & 2 years of experience writing government grants.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience writing government grants for HR360.
  • Experience working in healthcare, social services or non-profit settings.
  • Ability to secure new funding opportunities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.
  • Ability to exercise common sense in routine and non-routine situations, willingness to manage up as necessary and appropriate.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and non-routine information.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Internet including experience with social media outlets.
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to support colleagues and constituents, ability to remain calm and maintain a sense of humor in high- pressure situations.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with all types of stakeholders and consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Writes grant proposals in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Communicates with budgets team to ensure that proposed budgets meet all grant requirements.
  • Edits, compiles, and formats grant proposals for production.
  • Ensures that all parts of each proposal meet the grant requirements, and that the proposal is an accurate and effective representation of the agency’s qualifications, expertise, and program design.
  • Responsible for preparing grant proposals, bids, applications, and related documents, for submission to public and private funding agencies.
  • Coordinates meetings with program management teams in order to develop proposals that are viable, effective, and aligned with program operations.
  • Serves as mentor and advisor to team members and senior staff on topics related to proposal writing, project design, opportunity review and selection, and competitive strategies.
  • Provides feedback/instruction in person and in writing to other members of the grants team during the project design and proposal drafting processes.
  • Stays informed of industry best practices and current research.
  • Attends training workshops to develop and maintain effective working knowledge of public health and behavioral health fields.
  • Contributes to writing and editing additional agency documents as needed.
  • Produces proposals and coordinates delivery to the grant-making agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
