About The Position

Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking a talented Development Grant Writing Specialist who is passionate about storytelling, inspired by impact, and excited to secure the funding that makes their mission possible. This role is vital in securing funding that helps Dallas Habitat expand affordable housing opportunities throughout North Texas. The specialist will be responsible for developing strategy, researching, and identifying new grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, managing the entire grant lifecycle, collaborating with internal teams to gather data, maintaining grant calendars, tracking grants in Salesforce, and communicating the impact of Dallas Habitat.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three or more years of successful grant writing or nonprofit development experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing foundation, corporate, or government grants.
  • An exceptional writer who can inspire action through storytelling.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Curious, analytical, and skilled at researching funding opportunities.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Collaborative, positive, and mission-driven.
  • Experienced in grant writing and nonprofit fundraising.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM is preferred.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing, community development, or human services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy, research, and identify new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding partners.
  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests.
  • Manage the entire grant lifecycle—from prospect research and proposal development through reporting and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with program leaders, finance, and development staff to gather data, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
  • Maintain grant calendars and ensure timely submissions and reporting.
  • Track grants and funding activity within Salesforce.
  • Help communicate the incredible impact Dallas Habitat has on families and communities.
