About The Position

Reporting directly to the Director of Grants, the Grant Writer plays a vital role in advancing CHD’s strategic priorities. You will be responsible for identifying relevant grant opportunities and crafting compelling, high-quality proposals for local, state, and federal government grants, as well as private foundation support. Working closely with program leaders and executive staff, you will help translate innovative ideas into funded reality by researching best practices, gathering data, and framing program designs that align with CHD's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 to 5 years of proven grant writing experience, with a strong track record writing government grants across all levels (local, state, and federal).
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to convey complex social service programs in a clear, persuasive manner.
  • Outstanding research, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • A passion for human services and a strong commitment to supporting CHD’s mission of community-oriented care.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research, draft, and submit competitive grant applications for local, state, and federal government entities, as well as charitable foundations.
  • Partner with program staff and senior leadership to gather necessary clinical, operational, and financial details for proposal development.
  • Proactively monitor and identify new public and private grant opportunities aligned with CHD’s strategic goals.
  • Research evidence-based practices and sector trends to support effective program planning within applications.
  • Ensure all submissions meet strict federal, state, and foundation guidelines, deadlines, and formatting standards.
