About The Position

We are seeking a Grant Managements Specialist to support the National Institute of Aging’s (NIA) Grants Management program. The position will provide technical assistance in developing and analyzing the organization's grant program, assists with reviewing grant applications and preparing responses, and assists in analyzing and preparing reports to track status of awards and funding. This is a full-time remote role supporting NIA in Bethesda, MD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR High school diploma PLUS FOUR (4) years’ experience is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in grants administration, research, or related administrative support roles.
  • Knowledge of NIH/HHS grants policies and processes.
  • Experience reviewing grant applications for compliance.
  • Experience with budgets and financial analysis.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Experience maintaining grant records/systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NIH or federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with IMPAC II or grants systems.
  • Knowledge of grant lifecycle (pre-award/post-award).

Responsibilities

  • Review annual progress reports and competing and noncompeting grant applications for accuracy, completeness, policy compliance, and alignment with federal regulations and SOPs.
  • Draft and manage correspondence with applicants, grantees, and institutions to address administrative, financial, and policy-related questions or issues.
  • Review, revise, and prepare budgets and Excel-based funding spreadsheets, analyzing requested costs for allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and current funding levels.
  • Support pre- and post-award grant activities, including administrative and financial reviews, funding actions, award preparation, and final processing readiness.
  • Maintain grant files, databases, and electronic records in IMPAC II eGrants, and prepare reports, analyses, and routine updates for staff.
  • Identify and escalate issues that may delay awards, resolve grant-related problems with internal and external stakeholders, and advise staff on administrative and business management matters.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of grant review procedures, policies, and supporting documentation.
