About The Position

The Grant Finance Manager leads and oversees the full financial lifecycle of grants from proposal development through closeout, ensuring compliance with all funder and regulatory compliance while owning transparency with internal stakeholders. This position provides strategic oversight of the organization's grants management framework, ensuring alignment between funding opportunities, program operations, financial stewardship, compliance requirements, and organizational priorities. The position serves as a key liaison among Finance, Program Leadership, Compliance, and Executive Management to drive grant performance, accountability, and sustainability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • 5+ years of direct corporate accounting experience, 2+ years management experience
  • Direct experience with grant administration either within a grant funding agency or with a non-profit as a grant recipient
  • Multi-entity or complex entity structure experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of stakeholder audiences
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and time management in a dynamic change environment
  • Ability to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, representatives from other agencies, and the general public
  • Ability to plan and organize work and prepare appropriate, accurate records and reports
  • Ability to navigate and utilize required technology and financial tools and systems, including but not limited to: Financial (MIP, Microix), HRIS (ADP), business intelligence technology (Power BI), videoconferencing technology (Zoom, Teams), and Microsoft suites.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within Finance as a recipient of multiple, high dollar grant awards is strongly preferred
  • Non-profit experience and/or experience with federal funding sources is strongly preferred
  • Experience with behavioral healthcare is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, execution, documentation, and compliance associated with all current and potential grant awards
  • Manages assigned team that is primarily responsible for timely and accurate billing against grant awards and partnership with the programmatic leadership to troubleshoot and create transparency on the status of grant utilization
  • Owns core grant accounting functions including month end journal entries, reconciliations, and fulfillment of annual audit and external reporting requirements as they relate to grant awards
  • Actively participates in special projects assigned by Executive leadership as appropriate
  • Partners with Executive and Senior leadership teams to promote, deliver, and sustain transparency in overall grant utilization as well as grant related execution metrics including time to bill, invoice accuracy, and active management of grant related accounts receivable
  • Partners with FP&A department on initial budget development for new grant awards as well as renewals, modifications, and rate negotiations throughout the life of each grant award
  • Partners with program leadership to support informed decision-making through financial analysis, funding projections, and grant performance reporting
  • Partners with Grant Development department to assist with ongoing grant compliance reporting that may be required throughout the life of the grant award
  • Design staffing plan to adequately support department needs and responsible for hiring, training, and maintenance of direct reports
  • Promote team development and training to ensure up to date knowledge and expertise related to governmental funding regulations and substance abuse treatment industry best practices
  • Provide detailed variance analysis and month end close financial performance data to operations during the monthly grant meetings as well as the month end close meetings
  • Supervise the timely and accurate preparation of monthly grant invoices and maintain relationships with funding sources as a trusted partner and escalation point for troubleshooting potential issues
