About The Position

The Grant and Systems Coordinator will support key initiatives focused on homelessness prevention and Built for Zero expansion. This 1-year grant-funded role will help coordinate and improve programs that address housing stability, service delivery, and funding compliance. The position involves managing complex projects and funding streams to strengthen the regional response to homelessness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year experience in grant monitoring
  • 2 years of related experience in fields such as government, social work, or homelessness services
  • Knowledge of structure, purpose, and administration of government
  • Knowledge of project management and related techniques
  • Knowledge of grants management and compliance
  • Knowledge of basic principles of budgeting
  • Knowledge of community or citizen outreach principles and strategies
  • Foundational understanding of inequities facing people experiencing homelessness including inequities arising from race, gender expression or identity, presence of disabling conditions, and sexual orientation
  • Skill in record keeping and tracking expenditures
  • Skill in teamwork and forming partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Skill in the use of windows-based programs
  • Strong customer service skills in customer relations, crisis communications management, public speaking and media relations
  • Skill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errors
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City departments, other governmental entities, community organizations and citizens
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy

Responsibilities

  • Create sustainability and contingency plans for grant-funded initiatives.
  • Monitor grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with funding requirements, contracts and applicable regulations. And ensure coordination on system-wide goals to reduce unsheltered homelessness.
  • Conduct desk reviews and on-site monitoring visits to assess performance, documentation, and internal controls.
  • Identify potential risks or areas of concern and proactively recommend strategies to mitigate compliance issues and ensure best practices.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to subrecipients to support compliance and successful program implementation.
  • Represent Aurora on regional homelessness-related boards and committees, with a focus on inter-municipality and inter-county coordination.
  • Coordinate and implement programs aligned with the Aurora@Home program, ensuring long-term impact for priority populations.
  • Assist with multi-agency coordination, particularly for veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Contribute to departmental strategy, goals, budgets, communications, and outreach; operate independently or as a part of project teams.
  • Oversee cross-sector projects to improve housing and service systems; engage with stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain key community partnerships; attend and facilitate meetings; serve on community boards, committees, and workgroups in support of departmental initiatives.
